Advice for the exam

What you should know about your show:

  1. What type of show is your show 'Second Chances' and what conventions does it features?

  2. What pleasures will the audience get from your show 'Second Chances' and how could you apply Uses and Gratifications Theory?

  3. In what ways(s) will your show allow audience interaction?

  4. How are you going to avoid negative stereotypes in your show 'Second Chances'?

  5. Explain how your show meets the criteria outlined in the exam brief

  6. How will you use synergy to market and promote your show 'Second Chances'?

When answering questions:


  • Firstly

  • provide an 'in role' response

  • reference the brief

  • show you understand why and how Reality TV has developed

  • show evidence of own research and independent learning

  • provide a range of examples

  • make sure your ideas are original

  • Secondly

  • demonstrate understanding of the forms and conventions of Reality TV

  • offer a detailed explanation of their appeal

  • Use media terminology

  • communicate responses clearly using correct spelling, punctuation and grammar

  • use colours and annotations on design work
